Question 2

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Our shop is at 2415 73rd St, Suite 6B in Lubbock, and we have served Lubbock and the South Plains for over 25 years. If you live outside of town, call us at 806-535-1825 and we will let you know if we can help.

Question 3

How do I get an estimate?

Accepted Answer

Call us or use the form on our contact page, and tell us a little about what you have in mind. We will talk through your project and give you a detailed estimate, so you can see what is included before you make a decision.

Question 4

How do you schedule the work?

Accepted Answer

We know you have a busy schedule, so we keep ours flexible and work with you to find a time that fits. Once the work begins, we aim to finish in a timely manner, with as little disruption to your routine as we can manage.

Question 5

What does tape bed and texture mean?

Accepted Answer

Tape bedding is how drywall seams are hidden. Paper tape is embedded in joint compound over each seam, then smoothed out in thin coats. Texture is the finish applied over the wall or ceiling before it is painted. Together, they are what turns sheets of drywall into a finished surface.

Question 6

Can you match the texture on my existing walls?

Accepted Answer

Matching existing texture is a common part of drywall repairs, and it is what helps a patch disappear once it is painted. We will take a look at your wall and talk with you about the best way to blend it in.

Question 7

What is the difference between a pergola and a patio enclosure?

Accepted Answer

A pergola is an open structure with posts and overhead beams that gives you filtered shade and a defined outdoor space. A patio enclosure closes in a patio to give you more protection from wind, dust and weather. We can help you decide which one suits your home and how you want to use it.

Question 8

How do I choose a painting contractor in Lubbock?

Accepted Answer

Look for local experience, ask to see photos of similar work, and get a written estimate that spells out the preparation as well as the paint. Hub City Homeworks has served Lubbock and the South Plains for over 25 years, and we are happy to walk you through exactly what your project includes.

Question 9

What affects the cost of painting a house?

Accepted Answer

The size of the area, the condition of the surfaces, how much repair and preparation they need, ceiling heights, and the number of colors all play a part. That is why we look at your project and give you a detailed estimate rather than quoting a flat number over the phone.

Question 10

Do you do repairs as well as painting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because we also do tape bed and texture work, we can repair drywall and blend in patches before we paint, so you do not need a separate contractor to get the walls ready.

Question 11

Do I need to move my furniture before you paint?

Accepted Answer

It helps to clear small items, decorations and anything fragile, but we can talk through the rest when we go over your project. We protect floors and furnishings before the work begins.

Question 12

Can you help me choose a paint color?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We are happy to talk through colors with you and share what we have seen work in other homes. It is always a good idea to test a color on your own wall, because the light in each room changes how paint looks through the day.

Question 13

Can you remove wallpaper before painting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have taken down wallpaper and borders on projects like the kitchen in our gallery. Once it is off, we get the wall ready so the old paper does not show through the new paint.

Question 14

Can you paint brick fireplaces and built-ins?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Painted brick and built-in shelving can change the whole feel of a room, and both are in our project gallery. They take careful preparation and masking to get clean lines.

Question 15

Do you fix wall damage before painting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Paint will not hide seams, cracks or old patches. We handle tape bed and texture ourselves, so we can repair the wall and match the existing texture before the paint goes on.

Question 16

What makes exterior painting different in Lubbock?

Accepted Answer

Strong sun, blowing dust and big temperature swings are hard on paint and exposed wood. Careful cleaning and preparation matter even more here, because paint needs a sound surface to hold on to.

Question 17

What surfaces do you paint outside?

Accepted Answer

We paint the parts of a home that take the weather, including siding, trim, doors and shutters. Tell us what you are looking to update, and we will take a look and talk through your options.

Question 18

Can you repair damaged wood before painting?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. Painting over rot will not last, so damaged sections need to be addressed first. Our exterior door project shows a weathered lower panel that was replaced before it was painted.

Question 19

How do I know it is time to repaint?

Accepted Answer

Peeling, cracking, chalky or badly faded paint are all signs. So is bare wood showing around trim, doors and windows. Repainting before the damage spreads can help you avoid bigger repairs later.

Question 20

Is cabinet painting the same as cabinet refinishing?

Accepted Answer

People often use the terms interchangeably. Refinishing can also mean stripping and re-staining wood, while painting covers it with a new color. Tell us the look you want, and we will talk through what suits your cabinets.

Question 21

Is painting cabinets cheaper than replacing them?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. When the cabinet boxes and doors are in sound condition, paint lets you keep what you have and change how the kitchen looks, without the cost and disruption of tearing everything out.

Question 22

What does cabinet painting cost in Lubbock?

Accepted Answer

It depends on how many doors and drawers you have, what condition they are in, and whether any repairs are needed. We will look at your cabinets and give you a detailed estimate.

Question 23

Which cabinets are good candidates for paint?

Accepted Answer

Solid, well-built cabinets that you like the layout of are usually great candidates, even if the color is dated. If the boxes are damaged or falling apart, we will tell you plainly that paint may not be the right answer.

Question 24

Can you paint the island a different color?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is a popular way to give a kitchen a focal point. Our kitchen project pairs white cabinets with a green island and matching walls.

Question 25

Do you paint bathroom vanities and built-ins too?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The same approach works on vanities, bar cabinets, laundry room cabinets and built-in shelving.
